Search for a Radio Star  

 

Six places were provided by Hull Kingston Radio on a course to provide a vocational community radio training package. This included 20 x 2 hour sessions (20 hours taught/20 hours supported independent learning). 

 

Greatfield residents also benefitted as interviewees and listeners to the station (on FM and online using a computer or a mobile phone app) where they were able to access local information on a variety of subjects. This gave the potential to lead to long term volunteering opportunities and entry into the radio industry . Learners also had the opportunity to present a 2 hour 'live' Greatfield programme.

Greatfield residents learnt new skills on the course, which has a proven success rate and has enabled previous students to gain professional paid work in the radio industry;  underpinning the course are a number of invaluable soft key skills, such as communication, confidence/self-esteem, public speaking, team building, problem- solving.
